My Reflection on Classroom Management

As a starting out teacher trainee at KTC  it was daunting for me to get things back on track, or more simply losing control of my classroom can be frustration because of the diversities of my students. Not to mention, I taught it was very difficult for me to control a large number of students, consequently it negatively affected me in a way that I failed to assist some of my children who needs my attention. Yet, my previous teaching experience on classroom management had given me bright insights on how to create a productive learning environment where everyone and everything are settled. I get a brief understanding that classroom management are the strategies to keep order inside the classroom.  Likewise, I realized that teaching is a piece of cake when the teacher is well prepared and able to use a variety of classroom management strategies to maintain order and peace inside the classroom.
Coupled with that, I think that classroom management is also applied in the displaying of the learning to be easy for children. For example, I hanged a handmade pocket for my vocabs on the blackboard, and while explaining my vocabs written on flash cards I placed those vocabs inside the pocket for children to easily see and remember refer to Classroom management: display
 .
Furthermore, the seating arrangement is very important in organizing children and activities for learning. The middle of our classroom has a space for children to sit when the teacher discusses the lessons with the children. I think that this seating arrangement helps the teacher to easily assemble children in the middle.

Moreover, creating rules for the children to follow is an essential part of classroom management to make children behave well inside the classroom. For instance, at the beginning of my lesson I let children to follow some rules inside the classroom: no chewing gum, playing, bullying and saying bad words. I think that the strategy works very well because children behave well and follow the rules. My students pay attention and do what they are expected to do at the right time, they were obedient because they follow the rules of our classroom. Thus, it is the duty of the teacher to remind children the rules to control children to behave well inside the classroom.

My Reflection Ethical behaviors

Observing on ethical behavior: week 6& 7
While observing my associate teacher I learned various techniques on how to apply ethical behavior in my lesson and dealing with the children.
Here are some of ethical behaviors that I saw from my associate teacher
- she did not control children by using corporal punishment
-she give loosing marks to the members of the teams who are naughty in class
-she is well prepared in all of her lessons
-she wear formal dressing
-she teach children to behave well inside the classroom
-she use polite words to the children
-she does not discriminate/marginalize children

My Reflection: How I carry out ethical behavior in my lesson delivery

While doing my co-teaching at Tebwanimwaneka Primary school, I focus myself on becoming an ethical teacher who is well organized and be a true role model for children. Before coming to the school I prepare myself very well, my clothing, teaching aids and my lesson plan which I taught as an ethical teacher I should be well prepared in teaching.

I was a little late to the class because of transportation issue, so I learnt by this mistake that punctuality is very important when becoming an ethical teacher, so next time I will definitely make good progress in coming on time.

I did not discriminate children in my teaching, and see that every child are capable of doing thing in the learning, no one is treated different and both gender are equal to work together and answer questions in our session. As mentioned in Zinsmeister, 2011) that Ethical teachers avoid behaviours that might be constructed as discrimination, e.g: lecture comments that could be interpreted as discriminatory toward particular religion or race.

I believe that teaching children to have good attitudes inside the classroom is part of  being ethical so while teaching and observing the way children act inside my classroom is my responsibility, I guide children to behave well in communicating with friends and to have god behaviours. Moral development needs to be taught at schools from the personality-shaping years of preschool so as to raise individuals with strong sense of morality (Oktay, 2020).

I help assists children who need help in presenting their group activity refer to Ethical behaviour in teaching, I use polite words and do not want children to give up on doing their activity but give them encouragements to finish their tasks.

I had a fantastic day to practice and experience on being an ethical teacher, I take the opportunity to learn to become an ethical teacher in the future, and to overcome problems that led me to be unethical. I now realize that ethical teaching is very important for a teacher to maintain inside the classroom, it create a perfect learning environment where no one is discriminated but are all equal to access learning and have the right to learn inside the classroom.  My associate teacher gave me an excellent feedback on ethical behavior refer to feedback on ethical behavior

My Reflection on Student centered teaching approach

What is effective student centered learning?
Effective student centered learning is under the NTSS so every teachers should maintain student centered learning inside the classroom, whereas it is an approach in making children learn actively inside the classroom through constructing their own learning by exploring.

Observing my teacher on student centered learning(WK3)
By observing my teacher I learned that she is able to carryout student centered learning, so I was encourage to practice some of her techniques on student centered learning. It is important for me to know on how to deliver a well planned 5E lesson plan, to engage children and let them explore things by themselves in their learning.

My associate teacher let children to do the group activity because it is student centered learning whereby children are the self learners and they communicate and build understanding when interacting with each other. Coupled with that, my associate teacher did not give children the answers straight away but she let children to discover and explore by reading or looking at pictures. when children are doing their activities the teacher observed and direct children to do the right things because she is the facilitator of the learning.

My Reflection: How I deliver student centered (WK4)
I create a 5E lesson plan before delivering my lesson refer to My lesson plan on student centred
. In the Engagement part of my lesson the children were given the chance to look at different pictures, then they will give their prior knowledge and answers from looking at the pictures. It is student centered because as a teacher I did not want to give answers to my children because children create their own understanding and answers from the picture instead of the teacher telling them the answers.
Piaget’s view on student centered learning that children are the self learners; it is my responsibility to give children the time to construct their own understanding.

In our group work activity it shows an example of student centered learning because children were busy doing their activity, they share and communicate among themselves refer to Student centred 2
